ASA2 Tracking
ASA2 Tracking is a WordPress add-on for ASA2 that tracks clicks on affiliate links in your product templates. It tells you which products, templates, and link elements (button, title, image) your visitors click on most — including which devices and browsers they use.
The add-on supports three tracking providers that can be used independently or combined:
- Built-in Tracking — Self-hosted, stores click data in your WordPress database. No external services needed. Includes device and browser detection.
- Matomo — Sends click events to your Matomo analytics instance.
- Google Analytics 4 — Sends click events to your GA4 property.
How It Works
ASA2 Tracking automatically adds invisible data attributes to your product templates. A lightweight JavaScript file (~1 KB) listens for clicks on affiliate links and sends the click data to your chosen provider(s). No changes to your templates are required for most setups — everything is injected automatically.
Installation & Activation
- If you haven't already, request your free license on the ASA2 Tracking product page.
- Download the ASA2 Tracking plugin ZIP file from your account at getasa2.com.
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and upload the ZIP file.
- Click Activate.
- Go to ASA2 → Licenses and enter your ASA2 Tracking license key to activate it.
Requirements
- ASA2 (core plugin) version 1.32.0 or higher must be installed and active.

INFO
ASA2 Core 1.32.0 introduced the {{ ProductId }} template placeholder required for tracking non-Amazon products. Older versions work for Amazon products only. The dashboard shows a warning if your ASA2 version is outdated.
